My Little Buttercup
My milk isn't in yet and we are all unhappy about this. It's not expected to come in until as late as Monday so we've been getting by on colostrum. I swear I heard Addy's first words yesterday when she wasn't getting enough colustrum and they were clearly, "I hate you." We freaked out last night at a pink discharge in her diaper and called the nursery at the hospital. Apparently it's normal but they recommended a formula supplement. So, we're counting wet diapers and as long as we have the minimum I'll be abstaining from additional formula. It's so easy .... it calls out to insecure mothers, "Look at me! Just try me this one time! You want your baby to be happy, don't you?".
In the meantime, we are learning.

Go with your instincts, all the marketing can make you crazy at times, but lets face it- you know your child, they don't. I think you'll be great at it all.
I had a c section with GiGi and it took my milk quite a few days to come in - don't worry it'll be here before you know it and she'll gain all the weight back and then some. It's frustrating though isn't it? When they are permenatly attached to your boob saying "where the hell is the milk, mom????" Just keep nursing her, it'll make it come in even faster - and don't do the formula....she'll be fine. We have BIG girls, they can afford to lose a pound in that first week. :)
It took my milk five days...Forgive me but I forget how long it has been for you. Needless to say, the babes has grown 3 lbs. in three weeks. Just hang in there. And our little girl had pink discharge as well. They told us not to worry about it.
